Tom Harrell learned of the older generation as a young collaborator of the stars of her times and now he works with a group of musicians of the younger generation to develop their own music under his leadership. The list of musicians he has played is endless and there are many top jazz musicians in it: Stan Kenton, Woody Herman, Horace Silver ...
But today, he works with the tenor saxophonist Wayne Escoffery, an English musician living in New York, the pianist from Los Angeles Danny Grissett with a solid musical education, with English bassist Ugonna Okegwo, (German mother and Nigerian father), and drummer from Philadelphia Jonathan Blake, a musician and composer Grammy nominated, who at 36 has played with a large number of top names in jazz.
This great group makes a jazz in the mainstream which displays many musical influences by the past. Harrell is one of the best living musicians in the genre. In the fast tempos in the slow ones, as a reminiscent of Freddie Hubbard on issues of great strength, like a XXI century Dizzy Gillespie, trumpet Harrell is very good, very good jazz musician and band leader for outstanding.
Waynne Escoffery is a saxophonist who makes a good counterpoint to Harrell's solos, a musical and creative force. The rhythm section is impeccable, with a good job of Grissett on creating harmonies and musical structures, with solid bass of Okegwo and Blake on drums, who although he needed some heat at beginning he was improving with the progress of the session.
The themes, unknown to me, should be Harrell compositions or any of its musicians.

An
evening of good jazz at the club in Greenwich Village.

Glad you came by! We've been playing my new compositions this week. Some of them I just finished writing last week!
Thank you very much for the clarification. I had not read before because we have traveled to Philadelphia, then to Spain and then home. We keep very good memories of NYC and special concert at the Village Vanguard. Hope to see you soon in Spain.
